A Free remove.bg Alternative for Product Photos

If you used remove.bg for product photos, MagicBG does the cutout in your browser and then helps you check the result against Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Walmart and TikTok Shop image rules.

remove.bg's standalone site is shutting down on December 1, 2026, with background removal moving into Canva, where Background Remover requires a Canva Pro subscription. MagicBG offers a free, no-signup background remover that runs in your browser.

FAQ

Why is remove.bg shutting down?
According to remove.bg's own FAQ, the standalone remove.bg website will no longer be available from December 1, 2026, and background removal is moving into Canva. Its self-service API is moving to Leonardo.Ai, which is also part of Canva. remove.bg has not been described here beyond what it has announced.
Do I need a Canva account to keep removing backgrounds?
To keep using remove.bg's technology after December 1, 2026, you would use it inside Canva, which requires a Canva account, and Background Remover is a Canva Pro feature. You can also use another tool: MagicBG's free background remover needs no account.
Is MagicBG really free?
Yes. The background remover is free, with no signup and no watermark. It processes one image at a time at up to 1024 px on the longest side. MagicBG Pro is an optional paid plan that adds batches of up to 50 images and output up to 4096 px.
Does MagicBG upload my photos?
No, not for the free background remover. It runs entirely in your browser, so the photo you drop is never uploaded to a server. AI features such as listing copy and scene generation are processed remotely and are labeled as such on their pages.
